Designing a Fall Theme Wedding

The fall season is a very magical season for many brides; it invokes warm memories in shades of burgundy, gold, yellow, burnt ember, and reds. The fall season is tender and inviting and the shades of the season should be reflected in your wedding, should you choose to theme your wedding around the season. If you are thinking about creating a fall themed wedding, there are many ideas to incorporate in your wedding to bring the season indoors.

The Ceremony

Decorating for your fall themed wedding can be fun and exciting! There are so many unique accessories in the wedding market today. Pew bows can be purchased in fall themed colors. If you can not find bows in a certain color, simply purchase tulle in a warm fall shade and create your own bows with a simple bow maker found in many craft stores.

If you are planning on having a flower girl, she can toss silk rose petals in shades of burgundy, gold, brown and red to bring the colors of the season to your walk down the aisle. An alternative twist is using silk leaves or even real leaves that she could toss. There are many options for her basket and the ring bearer's pillows - rich browns, sparking taupe, burnt oranges, and golden yellows. Some wedding accessories even have leaves attached to them.

The altar at the ceremony can be decorated in beautiful fall flowers, leaves, fruits and vegetables. During your unity ceremony, there are several fall themed unity candles available. If you can not locate a unity candle which will work with your colors, you can simply purchase a plain white or ivory unity candle and decorate it with matching tulle, organza or satin ribbons to match your color scheme. Add a fall themed tie on or charm and you will have a unique, one of a kind, unity candle.

The Reception

Your reception is where you can really have fun with your fall theme wedding. The tables can be drenched in fall colors, or merely accented with them. You could go for darker table linens and complimentary or contrasting table decorations for a dramatic effect. If you want a lighter table scheme, then consider ivory linens with just the fall colors accented with your flowers or centerpieces.

Centerpieces can incorporate flowers, fruit, pumpkins, vegetables, wheat, even cornucopias. You could also set out fall colored glass votives coupled with berries and nuts for a lovely touch. There are many options for place card holders, many of which are in gold tones with leaf accents. If you want to steer away from a leaf theme, gold place card holders in a simple design will add elegance to your place settings.

Your wedding cake can be frosted in the colors of the season, or can be a traditional white or ivory cake with fall colored accents. Top your wedding cake off with a unique fall cake topper, or for a more modern touch, your monogram.

For drinks think cider, or add cinnamon sticks and cloves to the wedding punch for a simple fall touch.

Fall Wedding Favors

Limited only by your imagination, the wedding favor market is flooded with ideas for your fall theme wedding. This year (2007) edible wedding favors are extremely popular and fall themed hot cocoa wedding favors would be perfect for the occasion. Additionally, chocolates are a sweet treat loved by both adults and children alike and will bring the colors of the season to your guests as they leave. Candied apples also make a sweet seasonal treat.

If you want to give your guests a wedding favor with a bit of staying power, fall themed wine stoppers, coasters or fall inspired photo albums will make a stunning presentation.

Your fall theme wedding will be beautiful, memorable and inspiring to your guests. If you love all things fall then incorporate them into every aspect of your wedding day.
